Therapy Sessions & Scheduling
If you’re reading this, you may be thinking about scheduling, what therapy looks like, and how to get started. I applaud you for the step you’re taking, as exploring therapy is an act of self-care. Here are some answers that may guide you.
Session Length and Frequency
Sessions are 50-55 minutes long. In most cases, starting with weekly therapy is ideal, although some clients begin biweekly depending on their needs, availability, and finances. There is no one-size-fits-all for how long therapy should last. A piece of wisdom I hold closely is that therapy should last for as long as you feel drawn to self-discovery. Over time, many clients choose to reduce frequency, especially as they begin to feel better and connect more deeply with themselves. We’ll revisit this together as you progress.
Some considerations for therapy accessibility and scheduling, including therapy appointment times. I offer Monday sessions in the evening (1pm-7pm start times) and morning to early evening sessions most other weekdays, beginning around 10am. Sessions are scheduled in advance and are not typically offered on a drop-in basis, since consistency is important for growth. However, if you’d prefer not to commit to a set time, we may be able to use open slots as they arise—just note that flexibility may be limited.
Scheduling Options
You’re welcome to bring notes to sessions, especially if helps you focus on what you’d like to explore. I encourage this practice and have used it myself as a therapy client!
At this time, I only offer individual therapy sessions, and I do not do family or couples sessions, so sessions will be one-on-one. This helps protect your privacy and ensures we stay focused on individual goals.
